The Jewel of the West Coast, Langebaan is known for its freshwater lagoon, which attracts thousands of visitors and property developers to the area.

The Club Mykonos Resort is a top-performing hospitality centre just outside the town, with various restaurants, a boatyard and its marina generating stable income. The resort continues to improve steadily, with further substantial upgrades to the restaurant facilities and conference centre planned.

The West Coast Fossil Park is a short way from Langebaan in the Western Cape and one of the biggest recipients of the National Lottery Commission’s funding programme, which focuses on what the area was like millions of years ago. With grants totalling R67m, the West Coast Fossil Park is the 12th largest beneficiary of the NLC over time and used its funding to develop the museum, the artwork and exhibitions in the centre, an educational programme, transport and staff.

A relaxed resort town atmosphere is enhanced by excellent infrastructure and the commercial centre of Langebaan boasts a variety of shops – with all the national retail stores represented – including fitness centres, health clubs, medical and healthcare facilities, plus banks, places of worship and other amenities.

The Laguna Mall shopping centre has a wide range of shopping and leisure options and boasts 60 stores and mainstream tenants.A reminder of the town’s whaling industry is a large harpoon gun outside the municipal buildings.
