We Deliver More Than Just Stationery In Darling

Wildflowers and butter are synonymous with Darling. In 1899 the Darling creamery was established by two Swedish settlers, Nils Georg Moller and G. Threnstrom, and the town puts its best foot forward each year with the annual Darling Wildflower Show, held since 1917.

As with most towns in the region, it serves as a business and shopping hub for the surrounding farming community. Of late, however, Darling has branched out to become something of an entertainment hub of the West Coast. Evita se Perron is a famous institution and the stage and home of well-known South African satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys. A cabaret venue and restaurant, the “perron” is the spiritual home of Uys’s alter ego, Evita Bezuidenhout, who still performs there to this day.

The craft movement has also come to town in the form of Darling Brew and Tasteroom – a familiar brand that produces award-winning craft beer, ranging from traditional lagers to oat ales. The brewery has spawned an industry entirely new to the town, with the Darling Winter Beer Festival celebrated annually drawing thousands of visitors.

Darling Brew Woodstock opened their doors to the public recently, bringing the extensive range of Darling Brew craft beers closer to craft beer-lovers in Cape Town. Many other craftsmen and women are plying their trade in the sleepy town of Darling, with successful brands such as Darling Sweets having been founded there, with many more sure to come.
